HYDROGYN's Cover Of MSG's 'Assault Attack' Available For Streaming
January 20, 2010Ashland, Kentucky rockers HYDROGYN have released "Phase 1", a best-of collection featuring live versions of their biggest hits, along with two never-before-released tracks.
In addition to live versions from their albums "Bombshell", "Deadly Passions" and "Best Served With Volume", "Phase 1" includes "If These Walls Could Talk" and "Assault Attack", two previously unreleased tracks. "If These Walls Could Talk" was co-written by HYDROGYN's Jeff and Julie Westlake, along with DIO guitarist Craig Goldy, in 2007. "Assault Attack" is a MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP classic from the Graham Bonnett era recorded in October 2009. The tracks can be heard on HYDROGYN's MySpace page.
This release marks the band's first five years (2004-2009). "It is a way to close that chapter before opening up a new one," Jeff Westlake explained. "We will very soon be unveiling a new lineup that we are very excited about."
Along with the new lineup, a new album and tour is in the works for later this spring.
"We already have a few songs finished for the new album," Westlake reported. "We will start writing the remaining songs with our new lineup in February."
While everyone is keeping the new lineup top secret, Westlake confirmed that HYDROGYN will be going back to a five-piece group. "Our fans will be totally blown away with the new lineup and the new album," he promised.
The "Phase 1" commemorative album is available now only from the HYDROGYN web site in the MP3 section of the download.
